Via Ken Hissner: At Distrito Federal, Mexico City, Mexico, Saturday on DAZN, Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) performing during the Mexican Featherweight Main Event Mauricio “Bronco” Lara stopped WBA Fedecentro Super Bantamweight Champion Colombia Jose “El” General” Sanmartin in the third round.
Co-feature, WBO NABO lightweight champion Angel “Tashiro” Fierro, of Tijuana, Baja California, MEX, in a fight stopped Jeremy Cuevas of Philadelphia, PA, seven innings.
During the Main Event, Mauricio “Bronco” Lara, 25-2-1 (18), #127, of Distrito Federal, Mexico City, MEX stopped Jose “El General” Sanmartin, 33-6-1 (21), # 126.6 , of Barranquilla, COL, at 1:36 of the third of 10 scheduled innings.
In the first round, for the most part, Lara was on the right track. In the second round, once again, Lara kicked Sanmartin mid-round with a punch right to the chin. It continued until the last minute when he was hit left low by Sanmartin and received a warning from the referee.
In the third round, a punch from Lara beat Sanmartin with 8 counts. Lara jumped on top of him, dropping him a second time with a left hook from chin to knee as the referee dismissed.
In the WBO NABO co-features WBO NABO Lightweight Champion Angel “Tashiro” Fierro, 20-1-2 (16), #134, of Tijuana, Baja California, MEX in a fight blocked south Jeremy “King” ” Cuevas, 14-2 (10), #137.6, of Philadelphia, PA, at 0:53 of the seventh of 10 scheduled rounds.
In the first round, it’s all Cuevas with a stab in the face of Fierro and occasional kicks from Philly southpaw. In the second half, Fierro turned the game around, taking a big win with Cuevas on multiple counter-attacks.
In the third round, Cuevas, like in the first round, gave Fierro a boxing lesson except for an uppercut from Fierro that snapped Cuevas’ head in the midfield.
In the fourth round, Cuevas controlled the first half of the round until he was rocked by a right from Fierro, who took over the second half. In the fifth round, Fierro landed more than two dozen unanswered punches. Referee Miguel Sansores took a close look at what Fierro did to him. At the end of the half, Cuevas finished stronger.
In the sixth round, Cuevas stopped boxing and fell into the trap of Fierro’s power in a slugging match, with the latter being at its best. In the seventh round, which restrained Cuevas from receiving nearly two dozen punches, was a miracle before referee Sansores stepped in to demand a stoppage of play.
Recall “Albanian Bear” Mati, 13-0 (7), #139.2, of Staten Island, NY, won an action-packed battle against Leonel Rodriguez, 10-3-1 (5), #142.2, of Aguascalientes, MEX, 10 rounds, leaving the WBC Youth Silver Super Lightweight belt vacant.
In the first half, almost everything happened, when Mati knocked out Rodriguez, a late assistant. In the second half, Mati landed with a right, and a head impact caused a cut on Rodriguez’s leg. The rest of the round, they continued with plenty of action.
In the third and fourth innings, Mati continued to overtake Rodriguez, who kept moving forward. In the fifth inning, there was another early clash. Mati continuously counterattacked well, no chance to rest because Rodriguez moved forward.
In the seventh inning, Rodriguez turned the game around, although it was Mati who rocked him with a combination of the right midfield. In the eighth round, Mati had the advantage until the last twenty seconds when Rodriguez regrouped.
In the ninth inning, there was a third confrontation. It’s an all-action round. In the tenth and final round, this action-packed fight was back on, to the delight of the fans.

Super Feather Alberto Mora, 5-0 (4), of Mexico City, MEX, won the fight against Diego Andrade, 14-8-2 (1), of Durango, MEX, over 8 innings.
In the third round, Andrade was bleeding heavily from his mouth after a left hook from Mora. In the fourth round, Andrade suffered a nose and mouth bleed from Mora’s beating.
In the fifth round, Andrade continued to stick out his tongue as he took a hit from Mora. Mora couldn’t miss with a left hook. In the sixth round, Andrade put Mora on fire. Mora then took over again.
In the seventh round, Andrade wouldn’t give up no matter how many times Mora kicked him; he will fight back.
In the 1/8 and final round, Mora’s fans chanted his name. A punch on Mora’s chest knocked Andrade down with a count of 8. With only a minute left, the ref sent a medic on to the field to check on Andrade.
The scores are 80-71, 79-72 and 78-73, with this writer’s 80-71. This is Andrade’s 11th undefeated opponent.
