Boxing results: Kim Clavel loses to Yesica Nery Plata United light fly title!


Via Ken Hisner: At Place Bell in Laval, Quebec, Canada Friday via ESPN+ Bob Arum (Top Boxing) and Yvon Michel (GYM Promotion), Inducted During Main Event WBC Women’s Flyweight World Champion Kim Clavel of Canada lost a battle against WBA Super World Women’s Flyweight Champion Yesica Nery Plata of Mexico.

In the co-feature, WBC Continental Americas super-lightweight champion Mazlum Akdeniz of Canada scored three kills, beating Mexico’s Cristian “El Gato Gordo” Bielma in ten rounds.

During the Main Event, WBC Light Flyweight World Champion Kim Clavel, 16-0 (3), #107.8, of Montreal, Quebec, CAN, WBA Women’s Light Flyweight Champion Jessica Nery Plata , 28-2 (3), # 104.2, of Mexico City, Distrito Federation, MEX, 10×2 round.

In the first half it was very competitive, with Plata dominating in the first minute and Clavel in the last. In the second round, it was all about action, with Clavel’s right to land and Plata’s left hook throughout the round. In the third round, Plata defeated Clavel with a combination of body and head.

In the fourth inning, the action continued to delight the crowd. Both have their own moments, with Plata having the upper hand. In the fifth round, Plata took Clavel’s nose blood during a fight! In the sixth inning, the action continued with Clavel landing firmly. Plata, in the last thirty seconds, had another nosebleed by Clavel.

In the seventh inning, both took turns playing better, with Clavel cornering Plata at the bell. In the 1/8 round, Clavel had the best round when the fans really loved it. In the ninth round, the action was non-stop, with Clavel having the upper hand and then Plata right after the bell.

In the tenth and final round, it was a fight with Plata turning south for the final thirty seconds. Clavel looks like she’s in a fight while Plata is unmarked, and no one deserves to lose this one. The referee is Alain Vilenevue.

The score is 97-93 twice and 96-94 same as this writer.

In the co-feature, WBC Continental Americas Superlightweight champion, southbound Mazlum Akdeniz, 18-0 (8), #139.2, of Longuieu, Quebec, CAN, scores three kills in the knockout Cristian “El Gato Gordo” Bielma, 19-5 -2 (7), #139.2, of Mexicali, Baja California, MEX, over ten laps.

For most of the first round, the aggressive male player Akdeniz did it until the final 20 seconds when Bielma combined three punches to his body. In the second half, it was all because Akdeniz pushed Bielma back with things not going the way he wanted.

In the first 20 seconds of the third round, Bielma lost his balance but was hit by a left hook in the chin and was awarded an 8 by Referee Steve St-Germain. Bielma will be back when he is hit pretty hard by Akdeniz. At the end of the round, the body attack from Akdeniz took effect.

In the fifth inning, Akdeniz stepped on Bielma’s foot, landed on the left with his right arm, and knocked Bielma out as the St-Germain referee counted eight points. Bielma was able to make it through the round but is being defeated.

In the sixth round, the attack from Akdeniz continued to overwhelm Bielma, who was starting to swell a lot when a ball on his chin shook him.

In the seventh round, Bielma delivered his best punch halfway through a left hook on Akdeniz’s chin. In the final seconds, a combination from Akdeniz to the body and knock out Bielma was counted by the St-Germain referee by 8 points. Bielma fought back enough to get through the round.

In the ninth round, Akdeniz eliminated Bielma for most of the time. Bielma slid down the canvas several times. In the tenth and final round, Bielma showed a lot of heart there as Akdeniz continued on to the field, knocking him out right before the bell.

The score was 100-87 by all three judges and screenwriters.

WBA 7th Welterweight Welterweight Marie-Pier Houle, 8-0-1 (2), #144.8, in Terrebonne, Quebec, CAN, won in a controversial decision against Marisol Moreno, 6-4 ( 0), #145.8 by Mazatlan, Sinaloa, MEX, over 8×2 laps.

In the first round, the taller Moreno made Houle defend with a solid stab. In the second half, Houle made a brilliant comeback at half-time with a solid left hook to Moreno’s chin. She continued at a good pace for the rest of the round. In the third round, Moreno bounced back well, using an effective stab that sometimes had the right to Houle’s chin to win the round.

In the fourth round, it went back and forth, with Moreno most of the time fighting the aggressive Houle. In the fifth round, Moreno continued to beat Houle throughout the match. In the sixth round, Moreno opened the scoring, throwing a pair of punches into Houle’s chin. Houle was walking into Moreno’s counter.

In the seventh inning, Houle couldn’t get past Moreno’s poke, who continued to land well. In the eighth and final round, it proved to be the best round of the match, with Houle landing a left hook into Moreno’s chin half a minute into the round. Houle had her best round, but Moreno was too hard to get out of her reach most of the time. Referee is Albert Padulou, Jr.

Scores are 79-73, 77-75 and 80-72 Houle with 78-74 Moreno from this writer.

Former Canadian lightweight amateur Eric Basran, 3-0 (1), #134.2, of Vancouver, British Colombia, CAN easily beat Juan Carlos “Demoledor” Garcia, 4-3 (0), #133.4, of Mexico City, MEX, through six laps.

Thirty seconds into the first round, Basran landed on his right chin, stunning Garcia. Basran continued to charge forward with his left arm lowered against the defensive Garcia.

Midway through the second round, Basran knocked Garcia out with a punch to the chin. In the final seconds, Basran knocked Garcia down with a punch to the chin.

In the final seconds of the third round, Basran swung his arms toward him, unleashing a barrage of punches and pitting Garcia against the ropes.

In the fourth round, with only a minute left, Garcia let Basran back into the corner before escaping.

In the sixth and final round at the first minute, Basran landed right on Garcia’s chin to get his attention and make him turn south. With one minute left in the half, a combination of Basran put Garcia into the net.

In the final seconds of trying to make up, Basran could not eliminate Garcia despite winning every round. Garcia has a small incision under her right eye and a bump around her eye at the end. Referee is Albert Padulo, Jr.

The score twice is 60-54 and this writer’s 60-53, 60-54.

Tokyo Olympic Featherweight fan favorite Caroline Veyre, 2-0 (0), #124.4, of Paris, FR, and Montreal, Quebec, CAN, dominated Estefania “La Cholita” Franco, 3-6 ( 0), #123.8, of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, MEX, over 6×2 innings.

In the first minute of the second round, Franco was the aggressor before Veyre took over for the rest of the round, landing a combo on Franco’s chin in the final seconds. In the third round that ended in the first minute, Veyre sent a left hook to Franco’s chin and again a left hook to his chin a few seconds later.

In the fourth round, a pair of punches from Veyre knocked Franco’s head down in the middle of the round. In the final seconds, Veyre got Franco into trouble with a series of body shots that sent her leaning against a rope.

In the fourth and fifth innings, Veyre let Franco fend off and got into trouble several times. In the sixth and final round, Franco became the aggressor for half the round until Veyre took over, landing with both hands, leaving Franco in trouble for the final 20 seconds while Referee Steve Steve St-Germain looked closely at the stoppage, but Franco reached the bell.

Finally, Franco had a small tumor on the bridge of his nose and swelling under his right eye.

The score is 60-54 by all three judges and this writer.

2-time Canadian amateur champion (138-8) Nampaw middleweight Derek “Slick” Pomerleau, 4-0 (2), #159.2, of Montreal, Quebec, CAN, beat Gustavo Magana Rodriguez, 3-2-1 (1), #158.2, of Guadalajara, Jalisco, MEX, over six laps.

Halfway through the first half, the taller man Pomerleau knocked out Rodriguez with a right hook to the chin. In the second half, Pomerleau was warned by referee Alaine Vellevuev for using his elbow in the first minute.

At half-time, Rodriguez dribbled past Pomerleau but was counter-attacked for most of the rest of the half. In the third round, Pomerleau continued to attack, leaving Rodriguez with his arms up for most of the defence.

In the fourth round, with a minute left, Pomerleau knocked out Rodriguez with a series of punches. With half a minute left, it was Rodriguez’s turn with a dash, pushing Pomerleau into a difficult position.

In the fifth round, it was all about Pomerleau finishing at the last minute, delivering half a dozen punches and sending Rodriguez into a corner.

In the sixth and final round, Ponderleau tried to knock out Rodriguez but struggled to get past the defense of Rodriguez, who fought back very quickly.

Score is 60-54 by all judges and writers.
