Canelo lacks “KILLER instinct”

Via Dan Ambrose: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero says Canelo Alvarez is “too patient” and lacks the “killer instinct” needed for him to be an interesting fighter in his eyes.

Rolly says he doesn’t watch Canelo fight because he just hits his opponents and doesn’t try to finish them off the way killers like Deontay Wilder and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis often do.

Canelo is getting older and his rate of work has, unsurprisingly, reduced to the point where he is now just a shooter who can’t throw as many punches as boxers do. normally do without exhaust gas.

In other words, the only way for Canelo to take down those three is if he takes a single hit like how he stopped Amir Khan in 2016.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Canelo will be up against 25-year-old Benavidez any time soon, and by the time he does face him he will be too old to stand a chance of winning.

“You can’t always do that. There are better fighters that you have to see it. But I love watching warriors with killer instincts, you know? Deontay Wilder has an instinct to kill monsters. If he sees you hurt, he won’t stop swinging.

“Even Gervonta has monster killer instincts. That’s why if he hurts you, he will try to finish you off. That’s why I’m really excited about this. He won’t see me,” said Rolly when asked if he was ever hurt by Gervonta.

“I knew he was going to try to catch up with me. Like I said, he’s a sharp guy, and he’s going to try to catch up with me. He’s not going to land it, he’s not going to be able to see me,” Rolando said as he expressed doubt that Davis Tank would be able to time it for him to score a knockout.
