In her new cover story with Perfume, Music artist Cardi B has revealed a lot of behind-the-scenes stories about her relationship with Offset. One of her first claims was that the reason her husband proposed was because of an “ultimatum” she gave him, even though it sounded like a joke.
“We were working together and he was like, ‘You’re going to have my baby someday,'” Cardi said. “And I said, ‘We can’t have children. You have to marry me, and he said, “Okay, let’s get married.”
The couple married in September 2017 and seven months later, Cardi B officially announced she was pregnant. She’s not sure what it’s like to be a working mom, but Offset is supportive.
“He kept telling me, ‘Trust me. It will be fine. You are very big. Everyone loves you. Everyone will understand,” she explained. “And I always told myself, I have to release an album before I grow up and I can’t do these music videos. I cannot let everyone in the industry believe in me down.”
Kulture Kiari Cephus was born in July 2018. Kulture is Cardi’s first child, but Offset is the father of three other children from previous relationships, Jordan Cephus, 12, Kalea Marie Cephus, 7, and Kody Cephus , 7 years old.
“When I had kids, I felt like everything was going to be okay, because I knew the type of man for my kids,” she added. “It’s hard for me to explain, but I see how much he loves his kids and how passionate he is with his kids, and I love that.”
But it wasn’t easy, because Cardi felt the online attacks she received after Kulture were beyond anything they expected.
“We’ve been through a lot of sad things when it comes to Kulture – horrible behavior that even older kids haven’t experienced,” she said. “So a lot of people will post malicious, disgusting things, just to get a reaction from us.”
Cardi B and Offset’s relationship has had its ups and downs and they have publicly broken up twice, most recently in 2020. But they always get back together.
“I felt like our first year, even though we loved each other, we had a lot of desire,” says Cardi. “We don’t really know each other that well, because he does four shows a week. I did four shows a week. We would see each other about three or four times a month. “
Now, they have had time to deepen their relationship and grow as a family.
