Carl Froch says Fury beat Usyk 8 out of 10 times they fought
Via Scott Gilfoid: Former super-middleweight champion Carl Froch is fully on the Tyson Fury express, believing the WBC heavyweight champion will beat IBF, WBA & WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk eight out of ten times.
Froch asserts that Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs), who is showing signs of slowing down at 34 due to age and weight issues, is the one that “nobody” can beat. You hate to say it, but Fury has aged well.
Given that Fury was pretty lucky not to be knocked down in his two fights and disqualified for a foul in the third fight with Deontay Wilder, that’s quite a bold statement from Froch.
Even if you ignore those two losses and get the disqualification Fury should have after three skirmishes with Deontay 6’7″, it’s hard to picture him beating. Joe Joycethe slippery eel Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) and the two-time Olympian newcomer Bakhodir Jalolov.
Heck, you can even throw in the 23-year-old still green Jared Anderson, that would stand a great chance of beating Fury at this stage of his career.
“Nobody’s good enough to beat Tyson Fury, nobody,” Carl Froch said Boxing. “Listen, Usyk is good enough to beat anyone. On his night, that would include Tyson Fury, but Tyson Fury is going to have a really bad nightand Usyk would have to be a phenomenon.”
It sounds like a lot of fantasizing on Froch’s part, seeing things in his mind that Fury doesn’t possess in the real world. Froch needs to sit down, have a cup of strong coffee, and watch some of Fury’s recent matches closely so he can understand that he’s doing his best. an old man on his last legsripe to confront Joyce, Usyk, and the revived Deontay.
To be fair, the natural aging process and the countless amount of money Fury has earned over the past 4 years have caused his physical skills to decline.
“I just don’t think Usyk is good enough for Tyson Fury,” said Froch. “I think he [Usyk] good enough to beat anyone, but if he fought Tyson Fury ten times, he would lose eight times. If that fight happens, and I hope it happens, I think Fury will be the winner,” said Froch.
