Chicago White Sox pitcher won Instagram on January 8 to share that he was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
“As a professional athlete, I am always interested in trying to use my position in the public eye for the most positive purposes possible by shedding light on the causes or issues related to myself, my wife and my family.” 33 years old Written. “In that spirit, I wanted to share some of the personal health news I’ve learned over the past few days and do so on my own terms.”
Liam—who is married Kristi Hendriks in 2013—continued, “Hearing the word ‘cancer’ is a shock to me and my wife, as well as to millions of families each year. However, I am determined to fight and overcome new challenges. this with the same determination I used when facing other obstacles in my life.”
The MLB star went on to note that he is starting treatment immediately and is “confident that I will make a full recovery and return to the mound as soon as possible.”
He added: “I know with the support of my wife, family, teammates and the Chicago White Sox, along with the treatment and care of my doctors, I will get through this.”
