China has introduced new regulations on supervision of military equipment purchase contracts
Shanghai:
China’s state news agency Xinhua reported that China introduced new rules on monitoring contracts for the purchase of military equipment on Saturday.
The announcement came a day after President Xi Jinping had a phone call with his US counterpart Joe Biden in which they discussed the Ukraine war.
During the phone call, Mr. Biden warned China not to support Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Biden also said China, which had called for a ceasefire in Ukraine, made its own decisions.
The regulations aim to improve efficiency in monitoring military equipment purchase contracts and ensure that good quality equipment is delivered to the military, Xinhua said, without give specific details.
The rules will go into effect on March 20.
