Cincinnati Reds’ Ross Detwiler becomes the record 450th pitcher to allow a run home ahead of St. Albert Pujols. Louis Cardinals
Like Albert Pujols continued to climb the all-time home run list during his farewell season, he also set major league records in the process.
On a Monday night in Cincinnati, St. Louis Cardinals slugger had a career score of 694, and it was up against another pitcher at 450, a major tournament record.

It continues a remarkable streak for the 42-year-old Pujols, who had eight home runs in August alone, tying Bonds (April 2007) and Carl Yastrzemski (July 1983) the most in a month for a player 42 years or older . That’s the most home runs Pujols has achieved in a calendar month since June 2015, when he hit 13 years old.
He has only seven games from April to July this season.
“It’s pretty special,” Pujols said of the crowd in Cincinnati, where many fans were wearing Cardinals and giving him warm greetings every time he stepped onto the plate. “The energy is quite special. It means a lot to me. Right now, I’m enjoying it.”
It was the 134th home game of his career in August, Pujols’ most prolific month. He broke ties with Alex Rodriguez in second place behind Bonds ‘148.
The Pujols are now just two goals behind in beating Rodriguez in fourth on the all-time list (696). Bonds topped the list with 762, followed by Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714) and Rodriguez.
Pujols hit 15 home runs in a single season for the 21st time of his career, the most Bonds links in major league history.
“We are very excited to see him do what he is doing,” said St. Louis said. “He swings the club very well. He was on that pitch well. It’s a good shot all the way around. When he gets hot, it gives people confidence. ”
