“Collaborating with Prashant Kishor Fell Through Because …”: Priyanka Gandhi
New Delhi:
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today admitted that there was a real possibility that campaign strategist Prashant Kishor would participate in last year’s Congress but “it didn’t work out.”
Congressional leaders told NDTV that the partnership had failed for “many” reasons.
“I think it didn’t work out for a variety of reasons. Some on his part, some on our part. I don’t want to go into the details of that. In general it was impossible to agree on a number of issues. subject, which baffled Priyanka Gandhi said.
She categorically denied that it had anything to do with the reluctance to bring outsiders into the Games.
“If there was that reluctance, there wouldn’t have been as much discussion,” she countered.
Priyanka Gandhi admitted the possibility of Prashant Kishor – aka “PK” – participating in the Congress was real. “At some point, yes. It didn’t work out.”
Prashant Kishor held several rounds of discussions with all three Gandhis – Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi – last year and the strategist’s arrival at Rahul Gandhi’s house has sparked much speculation. His participation in the Congress is considered done.
Reports of a breakdown in negotiations come alongside a series of furious attacks by Prashant Kishor, who has publicly said it is not “the sacred right of any individual” to congressional leadership, “especially since the party has lost more than 90% of elections in the past 10 years.”
PK has made it clear that he believes Congress does indeed have a role to play in the opposition ahead of the 2024 national elections, but not under the current leadership.
His partnership with Congress for the 2017 UP polls failed miserably; The BJP came to power, destroying the Akhilesh Yadav-Congress alliance. All was not bad – Congress was won in Punjab, where Amarinder Singh had the help of PK.
