Lucid Motors is based in the United States with their manufacturing facility located just outside of Phoenix, Arizona. Its first vehicle, the Air, is a midsize sedan entering production for the 2022 model year. Despite being priced close to the top end of the all-electric vehicle market, the The company can easily justify it with some impressive specs, including up to 1,111 horsepower and a driving range of up to 516 miles. The upcoming flagship Air Sapphire model promises to deliver more than 1,200 horsepower with a 0-100 km/h sprint in less than two seconds.
Back to the Gravity, very little information has been revealed about this SUV. We expect it to borrow much of the engineering and underlying powertrain from the Air and come standard with all-wheel drive. Assuming the same model structure, the base Pure will have 480 hp with the top-end Dream Edition coming in at 1,111 hp. Since the Gravity will almost certainly be heavier than the Air, the driving range will be less than the sedan’s 410-516 miles. Charging options should also be made with 250 or 300 kilowatts, depending on model choice, with the ability to fully charge up to 200 miles in just 12-15 minutes.
The Gravity will be available with seats for five, six or seven passengers. It will also offer its own “Cover” version of the Air, which is an optional solid glass roof option. Instruments and controls should also reflect what the Air is all about, including the ultra-high-resolution instrumentation and infotainment display with updated smartphone integration.
Lucid is expected to take pre-orders later this spring, with deliveries starting in 2024. Pricing will be revealed some time before production starts, though we won’t. It’s not surprising to see a starting figure around $100,000, with top versions exceeding $150,000.

CG says:
Lucid Motors has worked diligently to cement its position in the increasingly competitive electric vehicle market. The Air stands out with its futuristic design, luxurious interior, incredible acceleration and impressive driving range. We expect Gravity to build on this foundation while being noticeably more realistic. Time will tell whether it has enough substance to win over high-end shoppers who will likely stick with more traditional high-end brands.
