Corsair publicly apologized after an “employee” was spotted last week calling reviews of the latest RTX 4090 graphics cards — by both. Nexus Gamers and Guru3D– “totally bullshit”.
The drama arose last week when the hardware channel was extremely popular Nexus Gamers posted a review (and some benchmarks) of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition. In that video, they say just plug in three of the card’s four cables (in case your PSU for whatever reason only room for three 8-pin connections) will lock you in at 100% performance, and only by plugging in all four will you be allowed to overclock the card. Guru3D’s reviews say many of the same things.
Not long after, comments about Discord left by a Corsair employee went viral. They called both Nexus Gamers and Guru3D’s claims to be “complete bullshit” and “misinformation”, while also saying that both users and the “press” are “confused” about the card’s power and overclocking claims. QUESTION: Has anyone else seen misinformation about the magical 600W unlocking and sensing latches from anyone other than GamersNexus and Guru3D or just those two sites? I need to throw Nvidia a few links showing them how the users…and the press… are confused about their smart sense latches.
Total bullshit and they don’t even realize it. Right. The adapter has two induction wires. Right. The card works with only a touch cord attached. That’s because it’s a 450W card. It’s not because it has the ability to ‘unlock’ which requires a second sense wire.
Cards simply do not know. It’s not smart that way. It’s just looking for a sense latch.

While employee comments aren’t exactly professional, a company representative’s ramblings about members of the media are, as we all bet, nothing new. However, what caused Corsair to publicly back this up was the fact…Nexus Gamers and Guru3D was correct. At some point – their claim only applies to Nvidia’s own 4090 cables, not cables made by third parties like ASUS or Corsair, which may explain the confusion here – but in terms of Technically correct.

I am very funny when these companies continue shooting at Nexus Gamers when their videos become completely accurate!
