Crawford didn’t feel pressure to buy a lot of PPV for the Avanesyan war
Via Chris Williams: Terence Crawford said that he don’t feel pressure to bring in more pay-per-view purchases for his match on BLK Prime this Saturday against David Avanesyan to help increase his chances of negotiating a deal with Errol Spence.
Surprisingly, WBO welterweight champion Crawford (38-0.29 KOs) doesn’t see the importance of him needing to bring in so many PPV buys ahead of Avanesyan (29-3-1, 17 KOs) ) during their match on BLK Prime PPV.
Crawford doesn’t understand? Because he doesn’t understand that he needs to make a large number of purchases on Avanesyan to get the deal he wants on Spence.
Assuming Crawford-Avanesyan bombs poorly in terms of numbers, Crawford will be in a state of weak position when he tried to restart negotiations with Spence.
It’s likely Crawford will never get a chance against Spence if his matchup with Avanesyan brings total PPV purchases below 50,000 as he won’t be able to negotiate a deal he wants.
Crawford is not worried about buying PPV
“I’m fully prepared for this fight, and it depends on what kind of style he brings. Come December 10th, it will bring out the best for Terence Crawford,” Crawford told thaboxingvoice about this weekend’s game against David Avanesyan.
“I don’t think it fell on my shoulders at all,Crawford said when asked if there was pressure to bring more pay-per-view purchases on BLK Prime so he was better positioned to negotiate a fight with Errol Spence Jr.
“BLK is new to the boxing world. This is the first step in the boxing game. You have to get your feet wet at some point, and they chose wet feet with me like ESPN chose to get to know me with the app.
“It’s very new to them and we’re looking to go out there and do what we do best. That looks good, win, and hopefully, everything will fall into place. “I can’t wait to go home and put on a great performance.
“I really just wanted to fight Errol, but they came back with a rematch clause. If we split up, it’ll be three battles between me and him,” Crawford said. “The only fight on the table is Spence.
