Crawford: I’ll prove I’m a super athlete
WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford said he will prove his class above Shawn Porter when they meet in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Crawford, the undisputed ultralightweight champion, aims to successfully defend her WBO welterweight title for the fifth time against two-time world champion Shawn Porter.
“I respect everything Shawn does,” Crawford said at yesterday’s press conference.
“Shawn is strong, he can hit boxes, he can smash, he can move around, he can cut corners and shoot corners. I’m not going to sit here and say I don’t respect anything that he does. I just want to say that I do a lot better than Shawn. I’ll let him come on Saturday.
“When we signed that contract, the switch was on and I couldn’t wait to go out there on Saturday to show my talent and look good doing it. Until then, I’m just chilling now, playing Call of Duty in my room alone all day. I was in the isolation room all day. ”
Porter, who has won his only world championship so far in eight years, described the champion as “snake” and hinted that Crawford may have a problem with his temper.
“Terence, you know better than I know that you’ve grown up. I feel like people are seeing more of you and your personality right now than they’ve ever seen, but I feel like I’m still right when I say that when the wrong Tweet or Instagram post comes out, you can feeling uncomfortable.
“There are people you can reach, and there are people you can’t reach. I’m one of those guys that you just can’t reach, and I have a feeling that you can reach him faster on the microphone than you can in the ring. In the ring, he’s a snake man, but maybe something was posted or said that could affect him {in} the fight.
“I am relaxing, I am drinking water and just taking my time. I’m a showtime fighter and I can’t wait for the showtime on ESPN+ PPV. ”
