Cryptocurrency Leader Dune Quits NFT Project After Being Accused Of Racism, Homophobia And Grooming

Let’s go back to January, when I wrote a story called ‘Crypto Losers Buy Jodorowsky’s Dune Copy, Played Itself’a passage that I think at the time perfectly captures the extent to which brain worms have infiltrated the blockchain community.

In a nutshell, a group of people called a DAO (more about the people here) purchased one of the surviving copies of Jodorowsky’s Sand Dunesa production bible for a failed 1970s Hollywood film adaptation of Sand dunes became famous thanks to the documentary film in 2013 Jodorowsky’s Sand Dunes. Know more about crypto scams than copyright law, they think they can do anything with the material inside, never stop thinking that buying a book doesn’t give you the rights to the what’s inside it, or that it’s just one of the surviving copies, not the final/only one.

We haven’t heard much about the project since then, until over the weekend when one of the DAO’s co-founders, Charlie/Charlotte Fang — who is also helping run an NFT project called Milady — allegedly posted some really deplorable online.

Most of the allegations are contained in This comprehensive Twitter theme by 0xngmi, where the poster known as ‘Miya’ compares black people to apes, calls homosexuality a ‘disease’ and says that a country can be ‘saved’ by killing its Jews . It is also alleged that ‘Miya’ is related to the Systemspace community, a group that has been labeled a ‘suicide cult’ promise a ‘cyberpunk afterlife’which involved in the death of a 17-year-old in 2017. ‘Miya’ is also accused of being involved in grooming anorexic girls on social media.

Fang has since confessed to being ‘Miya’ in a series of Twitter posts (though it’s important to note that they don’t make specific allegations, so it’s not clear if they really are), in which they said their disgusting posts and behavior were that they were simply ‘trolling’ and ‘minor’, and that their ‘factual views have no room for hate’. However, they have announced that they will be relinquishing their role with the Milady NFT project, despite their status with Sand dunes group is still unclear (Kotaku contacted for clarification on this).

As we have seen, a DAO is simply a front to attract suckers to buy cryptocurrencyand so now we are modifying Sand dunes let’s team effort check and see how things have gone for their coin in the months since they bought the book and… ah.
