Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (concussion) on way to play Thursday vs. Las Vegas Raiders
FRISCO, Texas – Four days after suffering a concussion in last Sunday’s loss Chief of Kansas City, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb on track on Thursday with Las Vegas Raiders.
Lamb, who leads the Cowboys in receptions (50), yards (740) and picks up touchdowns (six), underwent practice Wednesday and was scheduled to see the team doctors and a football player. Independent neurology for post-workout clearance.
Lamb was officially listed as a suspect in the injury report, but coach Mike McCarthy is optimistic he will be on the field.
“He didn’t miss a step in a short week,” McCarthy said. “Like we discussed on Monday, if he can continue to improve, we see him ready for the game.”
Lamb suffered a concussion late in the second half against the Chiefs when its head hit the ground. While he looked fine, he was held to a draw in the second half. He was able to attend meetings on Monday and continued through concussion protocol without any hitch.
“He’s great today,” Dak Prescott said “Did everything, had a little time with him [Tuesday]. I think it’s like he’s checking for the most part and we’ve done some doubles, things like that to make sure obviously it’s just balance and turns and he doesn’t feel anything out of it, so I don’t think we have any limits on getting into the game with him. “
When Lamb is playable, the Cowboys’ pass attack will be reinforced, but it will still have no wide receiver Amari Cooper. He is missing his second game in a row on the reserve/COVID-19 roster as an unvaccinated player. If he clears the COVID protocols, he could return in time to practice before the December 2 meeting against New Orleans Saints.
On defense, the Cowboys begin a 21-day practice period to finish defending DeMarcus Lawrence, though he won’t be fighting the Raiders.
Lawrence broke his foot in practice a few days after his opening game of the season. He’s had immediate surgery and increased detox in recent weeks and could be available for a limited role against the Saints. Randy Gregory will miss his third game in a row with a calf strain but he is also close to returning after more training in rehab this week.
