Trainee of Etienne and Gregoire Leenders Mister Saint Paul (Fr) (Dariyan {Fr}) made five attempts to renounce juvenile status, did so in Deauville’s Oct. 20 Listed Agency Code, and returned this semester to finished right on the podium in Saint-Cloud’s March 19 listed Prix Omnium II, his most recent outing. Hardly seen as a 217-10th outsider in Sunday’s G3 Prix La Force competition at ParisLongchamp, he flipped the form book upside down and displayed a tenacious attitude to score a career high in nine-item test. The final winner quickly strode for early control and cornered the field at the back, but was Tumbler (Fr) (King {GB}) when that opponent takes the lead at the halfway line. Returning to his original position shortly after returning home, he was put under increased pressure inside the poles and sent out to reject his Omnium conqueror. Dreamflight (GB) (Frankel {GB}) with a short head went quickly to a top career in game fashion.
Coach Gregoire Leenders commented: “No one believes in this horse at 22-1, but we have faith in him because he is a true fighter and puts his heart into it. everything on the track. “His racer [Theo Bachelot] gave him a beautiful ride and we are delighted for the owners. I also want to thank the staff at home for all that they have worked so hard to make these days possible. I think, and I always thought, he’s better than a mile. He went inside [May 15 G1] Poule d’Essai des Poulains and [June 5 G1] The Prix du Jockey and the results of today’s race tell us that both are still possibilities. We will take our time to enjoy this before deciding on the path forward.”
