Dark and Darker removed from Steam after DMCA takedown
The dungeon crawler PvPvE game Dark and Darker has been removed from Steam after developer Ironmace received a cease and desist letter and a subsequent DMCA takedown request.
According to the report of Eurogamerit seems that the developer of Dark and Darker, Ironmace, may be struggling as players recently noticed some features of the game suddenly stopped working, such as PvP and online co-op, followed by several sections of the Steam page removed overnight including all trailers, screenshots, and store descriptions.
An official statement was posted on the Dark and Darker Discord (by reddit) states, “To all of our fans, we recently received a cease-and-desist letter and a Nexon DMCA takedown request regarding Dark and Darker based on claims distorted.”
“We are currently working with our legal team to fix this in the best way possible. Due to the sensitive legal nature of this matter, we must be careful with our statements to does not jeopardize our position,” the Discord post reads. “We ask for your understanding as we work to restore the game as quickly as possible. Please know that we will do all we can for our fans. Thank you!”
In the first day of this month, Ironmace’s office has been searched by Korean officials based on speculation that it may contain stolen code and assets as nearly half of Ironmace’s 20-person team is made up of former Nexon employees. In spite of, Ironmace official statement Related to the problem is that the search is a “quick process” and “found nothing.”
