Team India picked up 258 points for four on the opening day of the first test against New Zealand at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Thursday. Shreyas Iyer defeated 75 while Ravindra Jadeja was undefeated 50 at the stump. Buddy with bat, Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara share 61 runs after Mayank Agarwal (13 years old) collapsed prematurely. India lost three points in afternoon trading before debutants Iyer and Jadeja added 113 incomplete runs to take India past the 250 mark.
Kyle Jamieson (3/47) made it difficult for the Indians, taking three hits, while his speedy fellow Tim Southee (1/43) took one.
