Del Mar's $1 Million Pacific Classic Top Summer Meet

Del Mar Thoroughbred Club has planned a 31-day/39-stakes program, topped off by its flagship offering – the 34th running of the $1 million GI FanDuel Racing Pacific Classic la is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 31.
Del Mar also projects total distributions of more than $26.6 million over the course of the eight-week season.
The 85th summer session of the onshore oval held along the clear blue Pacific Ocean will open on Saturday, July 20 and run through Sunday, September 8.
The Pacific Classic will be the highlight of a rich afternoon with five graded stakes, including the GII Del Mar H. and the GII Del Mar Mile.
All told, there will be $7,875,000 in betting available, notable among them being six Grade I presentations. Along with the Pacific Classic, the other Grade Is are the Bing Crosby S. (July 27); Clement L. Hirsch S. (August 3); Del Mar Oaks (August 17); FanDuel Racing Del Mar Debutante (September 7) and Del Mar Futurity (September 8).
Del Mar vice president and racing secretary David Jerkens said: “We are extremely pleased with the racing program we will offer this summer. “Our horsemen and horsewomen have been extremely supportive of our racing meets and we look forward to working with them on another successful season.”
Del Mar will be the home track for this year's Breeders' Cup renewal on Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2.
