Delhi has 27,561 new cases, 2nd highest since April, 26% positivity rate

Delhi today recorded 27,561 new Covid cases, an increase of 29% compared to cases in the last 24 hours and the most number of cases in a single day since April. The positivity rate touched 26%, the highest in seven months.
On April 20 of last year, the city reported 28,395 cases.
The city also reported 40 Covid deaths, the most since June 10, when it reported 44 deaths.
Active Covid cases, according to the health bulletin, stand at 87,445, the highest in the past eight months (It was 87,907 on May 8 of last year).
The bulletin said there were 25,240 patients isolated at home.
In the last 24 hours, 1,05,102 tests were performed, of which 85,349 were RT-PCR tests, and 19,753 were antigen tests.
About 2,363 patients were admitted at dedicated Covid hospitals, of which 99 were suspected of Covid and 2,264 were confirmed as Covid patients.
Of the 2,264 patients, 1987 were from Delhi while 277 were from the city. Of these, 739 are on oxygen support, 91 are on ventilator support, and 618 are in the ICU.
Of the 14,802 beds in Covid’s dedicated hospitals, there are 2363 patients with an examiner and 84.04% of the beds are vacant.
On Tuesday, private offices in Delhi were ordered to close and asked employees to work from home. Offices associated with essential services are the exception to the rule. Restaurants and bars in the city have also closed; can only be taken away. A night curfew has been in place since last month.
