Deontay Wilder’s Coach on Andy Ruiz = Beheaded Victim
Via Knitting Ambrosio: Coach Malik Scott says the reason fans will come to the Deontay Wilder & Andy Ruiz Jr match is to see ‘Bronze Bomber'”behead” chubby former 3-belt heavyweight champion.
In other words, Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) is the piece of cardboard that former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) would have punched a big hole in if this fight were to go on.
Ruiz is just the B-side punching bag for Wilder to destroy in preparation for his big-money clash with former two-time champion Anthony Joshua in December in Saudi Arabia.
As for Ruiz, Malik doubts that the fight is going to happen now, as Andy is valuing himself as he did during his recent failed negotiations with Tyson Fury.
Ruiz wants to split the game 50-50 against Wilder, believing that the revenue should be equal when the two no longer hold the world title. However, Wilder is arguably the more popular of the two, with whom the Saudis want to take on Joshua in December.
They didn’t choose Ruiz as someone they wanted to see AJ fight for for obvious reasons. Ruiz has ruined his career by not fighting quality opponents and not being active for the past four years.
“Wilder vs Andy Should NOT be 50-50,” said coach Malik Scott NEWS about the fight between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr.
“Everybody [will] go in there to see if Deontay can cut off his head [Ruiz] how he does so many others. That right there sells itself.
If Ruiz bets on themselves by accepting the offer made by Wilder, they may have a chance to fight Joshua in December.
Unfortunately, Ruiz is only focused on how much he can get in the match against Wildeer, which shows that he doesn’t think he can win. In other words, he knew Deontay would destroy him.
Malik doesn’t think Ruiz deserves a 50-50 split against Wilder this summer, given the popularity of the two so far apart.
Ruiz, 33, had his chance to star after a surprise seventh round knockout victory over IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in June 2019.
Unable to control his success, Ruiz ate & partyed after his win over AJ, and when he met him in a rematch six months later, he lost his title after entering the competition with Weighs 283 lbs.
While some fighters will be motivated to take down after a loss and fight back to the top by fighting often and facing the best opponents possible, Ruiz does the opposite.
In response to his loss to Joshua, he sat out of the ring for a year and a half and won’t compete again until 2021, when he finally returns to 40-year-old cruiser Chris Arreola. Ruiz then took a year and a half off before playing against 43-year-old Luis Ortiz last September.
Currently, Ruiz has not competed in the past 9 months and if his fight with Wilder does not take place, he may not return to the ring until 2024.
