Dermatologists reveal common skin care tricks that don’t really work
Are from acne and disadvantages to uneven skin tone – We all face some stubborn skin problems that are not easy to solve. In addition to countless products, the internet is flooded with do-it-yourself skin care treatments that promise to solve your skin problems quickly and effectively. In the end, we often turn to these attacks because of our skin woes. However, they often do more harm than good to your skin.
So you need to be careful with these beauty tips instead of following them blindly. Dermatologist Dr. Aanchal Panth, recently shared six common skin care tips that don’t really work. On the contrary, they can damage your skin further. Check them out.
Avoid these skin care routines as they can have a bad effect on your skin.
Lemon for bruises
This is an old hack that doesn’t work, says dermatologist. “Yellow lemon has bleaching properties but it is sensitizing to the skin. It makes the skin more sensitive to the effects of the sun. This can make dark spots worse, especially in people with dull skin.”
Baking soda for armpit odor
Baking soda on the skin, wherever possible, is not a good idea, according to Dr. Panth.
Toothpaste for acne
This is an absolute no-no. It may cause skin burns. In acne, there is a weakened skin barrier. So, by applying toothpaste, you are doing further damage to your skin. This will prolong the healing process and will also leave a black mark that will take a long time.
Milk powder for justice
Applying whitening products on your face will not make you whiter. Milk contains lactic acid but it won’t change your skin color. Nothing can change your natural skin color.
Acids and bases in moles
In application chuna (strong base) on moles is a common practice. “I get frantic calls from people who have done this and scarred themselves. Please don’t do that. It will burn the skin and won’t remove the mole,” she shared.
Betnovate on acne
There are hundreds of videos on YouTube showing the benefits of applying steroids to the face for acne or to be fair. It couldn’t be further from the truth. Steroids should never be used on the face without consulting a dermatologist. Steroids make the skin thin, swell the blood vessels and cause more breakouts.
