Destiny 2: Lightfall coming in February with new subclasses, maps and more

Bungie has revealed a lot of new information regarding Destiny 2’s upcoming Lightfall expansion, including a February 28 release date.

Announced in its time Showcase Destiny 2 2022Lightfall will mark the “beginning of the end” and is set to be the next major expansion pushing Destiny 2’s story and gameplay forward, including the game’s second Darkness subclass known as Stand.

This new style of play seems to have a lot to do with mobility, as players will use it to grapple and spin around a brand new Destiny 2 map on Neptune. Strand involves manipulating ghostly green psychic energy and will manifest in different ways depending on the class the player uses.

The Neptune map is called Neo Luna, a newly discovered city built by an alternative human evolution. However, unlike the derelict and destroyed communities that the known version of man has left behind, this new city is a thriving metropolis. It acts as a battlefield in Lightfall as Calus arrives, allied with The Witness, a new villain, and the player is tasked with saving that day once again.

Guardian Ranks is another new feature coming to Destiny 2 in Lightfall, with the aim of introducing new players to every element of the game. The 11 available tiers will walk the player through each type of activity, map, raid, etc. to slowly but surely explain how each part of Destiny 2 works.

Also on the accessibility front, Bungie will add Fireteam Finder (essentially a matchmaking partnership) in 2023.

Given that Lightfall is also a sequel to the ongoing story in the Light and Darkness Saga, Bungie has confirmed that they won’t be removing any past expansions so new players can experience the full story. . To celebrate this announcement, Bungie has also made all of the game’s expansions free for a week starting today, August 23.
