Via Jim Calfa: Devin Haney expressed joy at the news that IBF / WBA / WBF Franchise / WBO lightweight champion Teofimo ‘Takeover’ Lopez Jr lost to George Kambosos Jr. by decision to split 12 rounds last Saturday night at MSG in New York City.
WBC lightweight champion Haney expressed happiness on Twitter, calling Teofimo a “scam” and “crazy”.
If Teofimo wins, he will likely face Haney next in a big battle in the first quarter of 2022.
With the defeat to Kambosos, Teofimo (16-1, 12 KOs) will not take on Haney and will instead look to rebuild his career at 140 against a still-determined opponent.
Devin (26-0, 15 KOs) says he wants to fight Kambosos with all four belts on the rope, as long as he successfully defeats Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz Jr. (32-1-1, 15 KOs) next Saturday, December for the 4th time live on DAZN at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Haney says Teofimo is “a scammer”
“I hope it all makes sense now! Teo has scammed!“Devin Haney said in reaction to Teofimo’s loss to Kambosos Jr last Saturday.
“Congratulations, George Kambosos. Well-deserved victory; you worked hard for it! Let’s make it happen for all belts! #RealUndisputed.
“Oh yes, Teo has gone crazy… I already told you this😭,” said Haney.
“100% focus on JoJo Diaz! You will watch December 4th! #ImReady,” Haney said of his title defense against Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz Jr. next Saturday night.
Overlooking, WBC lightweight champion Haney (26-0.15 KOs) was delighted at the news that Teofimo suffered his first defeat of his career to Kambosos.
If Haney is thinking clearly about what Teofimo’s failure means to him in regards to his pocketbook, he should be upset. The amount of money Haney earned in the fight against Teofimo must have been huge, but now that money is gone.
If victory over Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz Jr. next Saturday night, December 4th, Haney will make a decent amount of money playing Kambosos Jr. in early 2022.
However, the amount of money that Haney will receive fighting the Kambosos will not be the same as the amount that he will receive fighting Teofimo.
Lopez Sr: Teofimo is still the best on the planet
“Everybody knows who won tonight. It doesn’t matter what the referees say, we won,” said Teofimo Lopez Sr. talk to Seconds out. “It was a quick knockdown; Everyone knows that,” said Lopez Sr. talks about Teofimo getting knocked out by Kambosos in the first round.
“He came back, he was never injured, and he spoke to me. He said: ‘Dad, I’ve never been hurt.’ I went into the fight, it was an easy fight for him, and he won every round.
“Do you give Kambosos two innings? Okay. Tricyclic? Okay. Even four rounds, but fighting. What happened to us was horrible, horrible. I can not believe it.
Teofimo Sr. “Lesson number one is don’t hurt the industry because it can hurt you,” says Teofimo Sr. said when asked the number one lesson he learned from Lopez’s defeat to Kambosos.
“I told him [Teofimo] a lot, from now on we will keep quiet and not mention names. We will continue to do what we are doing.

Teofimo’s loss to Kambosos shows that he is NOT the best boxer on the planet at 135, and he may not even be the fifth best because there are about half a dozen light fighters who can. beat the Australians.
Before last Saturday’s match, the Kambosos had barely beaten Mickey Bey and Lee Selby, both of whom are older fringe lightweight athletes.
Given the way Teofimo fights, he will most likely lose to two older fighters, Bey and Selby.

Teofimo will defeat everyone from now on

“I might give him [Kambosos] two innings for a quick knockdown. I know what my son has, and I taught him to win every round by touching every two seconds. Every two seconds, he touches again.
“There is no way in the point system that this guy [Kambosos] won a scary round, and that’s just the way it is. We don’t need to perfect anything,” said Lopez Sr on Teofimo.
“It’s just that he’s been at 135 for so long. He has been 135 years old for eight years from 2016, when he fought in the Olympics.
“It’s time for him to step up [to 140] stronger so he can defeat all these people because from now on, he will take everyone down,”said Teofimo Lopez Sr.
You can buy what Lopez Sr. talks about Teofimo taking down everyone from this point on if he has better stamina. However, his fights against Kambosos, Vasily Lomachenko and Masayoshi Nakatani proved that he is essentially a six-round boxer.
Teofimo got tired too quickly, even in the first half of his match. , he disappears quickly and he has no hit every two seconds.
If Teofimo can land every two seconds against Kambosos, he easily won last Saturday night’s skirmish.
