Via Dan Ambrose: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero rematched on Tuesday, tearing WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney out for being the “weakest link” of the champions in the tournament and lacking in stellar talent.

The undefeated 24-year-old Rolly (14-0, 12 KOs) seems to be on a mission to knock out his proud Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) to take him down.

Haney, 23, is being heavily pushed by promoter Eddie Hearn to help put him in a lucrative fight with undisputed lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. next.

With Hearn’s help, Haney could be the one fighting the Kambosos can beat, ahead of Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, Ryan Garcia and Vasily Lomachenko.

In an ideal world, Mayweather Promotions would negotiate a fight between Rolly and Haney so the two could fight.

However, that’s not likely to happen due to the way they keep their fights indoors with Mayweather Promotions and the PBC fighters.

Rolly predicts Haney’s downfall

Rolando feels that Haney, 23, is the weakest of the current 135 belt holders, and he feels he has no longevity as a champion due to his lack of strength and fighting style.

In Rolly’s opinion, Haney was too aggressive with his weak frame and low power level.

Rolando feels that the combination of Haney’s weak strength and his overly aggressive fighting style means there will be immediate difficulties for Matchroom’s ascending fighter.

“Devin is the weakest link, and I feel really bad for him,” Rolly Romero said social media. “He was going to fall, and it would hurt more than anything.

Haney narrowly lost to Jorge Linares last May after stumbling around in the 10th round.

Linares continued to hurt Haney in rounds 11 and 12, forcing him to hold out too much to avoid being knocked out.

That performance suggests Haney won’t last long as the WBC lightweight champion unless his promoters continue to battle him carefully.

“Because it’s not his fault that he was born with difficult genetics,“Rolly talks about WHY he feels bad for Haney. “He lacks strength, his body is fragile, his legs are weak, and he is as ugly as an asshole.

“I mean, I feel bad for him, and there’s nothing he can do to change that because he was born that way. Just because you say, ‘I have more money than you’, it doesn’t change.

“He is as ugly as f*** and weak as f*** with no strength. Devin Haney, they tried really hard with that kid, and they couldn’t promote him. Did you see that?

“I’m telling you, Devin has no power and no chin, and he’s aggressive. It’s a very scary combination against a puncher. If you have no chin, no strength and you are aggressive, you will be defeated by any puncher. I’m sorry to say,” Rolando said of Haney.

Too bad the Rolly promoters at Mayweather Promotions won’t bring him in with Haney because it would be a stellar showdown to show what the two guys can do.

Haney looked completely beatable in his final two games against Joseph ‘Jojo’ Diaz Jr. and Jorge Linares. Given the way Haney fought, he’ll be lucky to keep his WBC belt for another six months.

Rolando says he’s fighting Tank Davis

It would be surprising if Rolly was the one to face Tank next because, given the things he’s facing right now, it just doesn’t seem realistic.

“Rolly is fighting Gervonta Davis. I don’t know, my next fight,” Rolando said in the third person when asked to WHO he would fight next.

“I really appreciate you saying that I am the king of the pound. You guys don’t realize how strong I am compared to all these f**** moms,” said Rolly.

In order for Rolly Romero to fight Tank Davis next, he will need to be cleared of sexual assault allegations that have been made about him. Showtime likely doesn’t want to greenlight Tank Davis and Rolando Romero’s pay-per-view showdown if Rolly is still dealing with the allegations.

Assuming that kt Rolly has cleared the problems weighing on his head, it is very likely that Mayweather Promotions will organize a fight between Rolando and Gervonta next.

Ideally, Mayweather Promotions should team up with other promoters so that Tanks can take on the top guys at 135 like George Kambosos, Haney, Ryan Garcia and Vasily Lomachenko.

It will help Tank’s career for him to counter the recognizable opposition with which the boxing world is familiar.
