Dilo presents MicroPunch demo at ITMA 2023 in Milan



Dilo booth introduced the complete production line and demonstration of MicroPunch technology to visitors from June 8-14 at ITMA 2023. On this 750 m2 pavilion, 36 DiloGroup associates attended. plus outside services, the complete line has demonstrated a completely new technology from bale opening to end coiling.

All visitors confirmed that current commercial and environmental issues related to sustainability, vital energy supplies with increasing prices, decreasing water reserves as well as the prospect of savings fiber materials will attract the most attention, DiloGroup said in the press release.

DiloGroup presented its MicroPunch technology at ITMA 2023, highlighting energy efficiency in nonwovens manufacturing. This technology supports production in the weight range from 30 to more than 100 g/m2, which saves a lot of electrical energy and gas heating without any fiber loss. Potential cost savings can reach as much as 50 percent for some products.

The above concerns find answers in the manufacturing of lightweight nonwovens through Dilo’s brand new MicroPunch manufacturing technology that will become relevant as investments take place in the production of nonwovens. at a weight range of 30 to more than 100 g/m2. MicroPunch offers huge potential for savings on electrical energy and energy from gas heating because it consumes no water.

Furthermore, there is no fiber loss associated with this manufacturing technology as the cut material can easily be recycled in the process. It has been shown that depending on the cost of electricity, gas and water, production cost savings can be up to 25% for products around 40 g/m2 and even up to 50% for products. The MicroPunch line includes DiloTemafa fiber preparation, BALTROMIX baler, carded willow and dosing opener of the latest design, followed by DiloSpinnbau MultiCard loaded by a universal card loader included New IsoFeed system to reduce weight variation.

IsoFeed can add the correct amount of staple fiber in the lower mass areas in the pad plane, thereby correcting weight deviations and improving the overall CV value of approx. 4 percent. The very regular web mass at the end of the card allows an average weight reduction of about 10 percent resulting in significant fiber savings when the minimum weight associated with high regularity is not exceeded.

The line will be shipped back to the company’s research and demonstration center, where DiloGroup will use it to develop products and collaborate with customers and their specific yarn and requirements.

The second highlight of DiloGroup’s ITMA show was the introduction of the group’s partnership with Dell’Orco & Villani and Technoplants for RecycloLine. This is the foundation for the three companies involved in the design and supply of complete mechanical recycling lines for garment waste to meet current and future requirements to save valuable fiber materials instead of waste, burn and dispose.

DiloSystems as general contractor will coordinate the engineering of individual projects for customers worldwide and will provide demonstrations of tearing, aerodynamic mesh formation through air bonding, brushing roughing, cross grinding, needle as well as air system engineering to control excessive dust in such production lines. Engineering will also include end-of-line cutting, winding, palletizing and packing.

Customers will be informed and included in the technical process to decide which method of web creation and consolidation works best for their particular purpose, quality, and economy. Four demonstration sites in Florence, Ancona, Pistoia (all Italy) and Eberbach (Germany) are ready to provide insight into this particular technology including the sampling of materials from recycled fibres.

In the past, MicroPunch features have also been advertised at INDEX to familiarize interested parties with high-speed micro-needles—a breakthrough for significant energy savings.
