The NFL’s U.S. Thanksgiving games don’t necessarily get the trendiest entertainers for halftime performances, but the Dallas Cowboys sure got the internet buzzing with their pick on Thursday.
Dolly Parton, wearing a Cowboys cheerleader uniform, took the stage to huge cheers at halftime of Dallas’ traditional holiday Thursday game against the Washington Commanders.
Within minutes, Parton, who has a new album out this month, was trending on X (formerly known as Twitter).
While the final song — Queen’s ‘We are the Champions’ — was a questionable choice for a Cowboys team that last won the Super Bowl in 1996, Parton certainly received more positive reviews than rapper Jack Harlow did for his halftime performance in Detroit hours earlier.
The halftime show in Dallas kicks off the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign — and Parton, 77, donated $1 million prior to her show.
