Dragonite joins Pokémon Unite Squad later this month along with holiday festival event
Pokémon Unite will soon get into the holiday spirit as a new winter-themed event begins next week.
Running from December 15 to January 16, this holiday carnival event will bring to the game all sorts of giveaways, limited licenses, trainer fashions, and a new Pokémon. Tsareena joined the list today, and on December 20th, Dragonite will enter the fray. Like Tsareena, the grass-type Pokémon introduced in Pokemon Sun and Moon, Dragonite will be a Melee All-Rounder character “that harnesses its impressive weight and power for maximum damage reduction,” according to a news release. As you can see in the trailer above, Dragonite looks great, as does the upcoming winter break makeover with Pokémon Unite. Their move sets will include Dragon Breath, Outrate, and Draco Impact.

During the Snowball Battle, the defeated Pokémon becomes a snowman for a limited time. They won’t be able to move, but they can visually support their teammates and use a basic attack that doesn’t damage enemies but will make them jump into the air. Different movements also perform different poses in the air, such as cheering, waving, or even thumbing up. When the Pokémon’s snowman form ends, it will jump out of the snow and return to the battle. Defeat the wild Delibrid in these battles to receive a gift box containing a random one-time battle item that will replace your current battle item. Additionally, Avalugg has been temporarily replaced with Articuno in the center of the map.
From January 1 to January 3, Unite licenses for all Pokémon will be temporarily made available to all players, meaning anyone can use any Pokémon in any battle. any. During the holiday carnival event, players can participate in the Illumination Challenge by selecting holiday trees in the lobby to compete in daily quests and challenge missions.
“By completing these quests, players can collect lights to light up the holiday tree and earn cool rewards – including Coach snapshot frames and backgrounds, 1-day limited licenses, fashion items for trainers and more,” the blog post reads.
