Following a cycle of fake journalism consisting of fake “appearances” on Howard Stern . Program and NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series, as well as a dizzying number of Hentai erotic images posted to Drake’s Instagram Stories, rappers Drake and 21 Savage dropped their new album Her loss in the early hours of Friday.
And one song — rather than a line — is particularly stirring.
In the song “Circo Loco”, Drake raps, “This bitch lied about being shot but she’s still a stallion / She doesn’t even understand the joke but she still smiles.”
The line shows Drake accusing rapper Megan Thee Stallion of lying about being shot by rapper Tory Lanez, which prompted Megan to take to Twitter and reply, “And when the truth comes out, remember all of your favorite rappers. you were standing behind a NOTHING.”
In a follow-up tweet, she more“People attack me, guys, come on, I’m defending myself now I’m doing too much… it never ends and this does NOT happen until I come out and say I’m screwed. shoot… you guys can’t fwm, that’s great, bye. “
Megan was brought forward on August 20, 2020, with allegations that Tory shot her in the leg after a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s home on July 12 of that year. (She initially told the police that she stepped on the glass out of “fear.”) Tory went on to launch a smear campaign against Megan (which was allegedly included fabricated emails from her agency) and was ultimately charged with two counts in connection with the incident in question: one count of assault with a semi-automatic handgun and one count of carrying an unregistered, loaded firearm in a vehicle. He faces a maximum sentence of 22 years and 8 months in prison. After Tory delayed the trial a number of times, the trial will begin on November 28. He pleaded not guilty.
Tory’s antics — and Megan’s lack of support from other male members of the hip hop community — prompted her to pen. one New York Times op-ed in October 2020 referring to the episode and the subsequent public reaction.

“Recently I was the victim of a violent act by a man. After a party, I was shot twice while walking away from him. We were not in a relationship. Honestly, I was shocked that I ended up in that place,” she writes.
“My initial silence on what happened was out of fear for myself and my friends. Even as a victim, I was faced with skepticism and judgment. The way people openly question and debate whether I played a role in my own violent attack proves that my fear of discussing what happened, unfortunately, has been guaranteed. “
Despite Tory’s claims, all known evidence can back up Megan’s account. On December 14, 2021, LAPD Detective Ryan Stogner – who arrived at the scene – testified in court that Tory yelled “dance, bastard, dance!” at Megan as he fired shots at her leg. Megan, Det. Stogner testified, “immediately felt pain in his leg, observed blood, fell to the ground, then crawled to the adjoining driveway of a mansion,” report TMZ.
Det. Stogner further testified that Megan had told him Tory begged her not to tell the truth about the shooting and even offered her to pay to keep her quiet because he was on probation. In addition, he testified that Megan told him she initially said it was the glass that caused her injury because she was worried that in the political context – it was the summer of 2020. – the situation could escalate to violence if she points the police towards Tory, a black man with a gun in his car.
If that wasn’t enough, a phone call is said to have taken place in court in which Tory called a friend of Megan’s while he was behind bars to apologize for the bad thing he had done. for being too drunk.
Tory and his supporters have not provided any hard evidence refuting Megan’s point in the story, although he violated a protective order says he must stay at least 100 yards away from Megan.
It was disappointing to see Drake displaying misogynoir. He should have known better, and Megan deserves a sincere apology.
