Dubai Racing Club renames season, increases wallet
The Dubai Racing Club (DRC) on Sunday announced a new structure for the 2023-24 race season in Meydan, renaming the entire event from December to March to the Dubai Racing Festival and increasing the budget. to AED 11 million, up 27% from last season.
The season will offer three outstanding race nights starting in December (AED 4.7 million), followed by January (10 million AED) and Super Saturday in March (10 million AED), bringing the total money for three meetings to AED 24.7 million. The minimum purse for no-bet races is AED 165,000, which has returned to pre-pandemic levels. The night of G1 Dubai World Cup retained a total purse of 30.5 million US dollars (112 million AED).
Sheikh Rashed bin Dalmook Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Racing Club, said: “The new shape and identity of the Dubai Racing Festival has the potential to promote Dubai’s strategic location as a regional hub. area for equestrian sports and a favorite racing destination. “This is thanks to the wide range of races on offer as well as the expertise, service and facilities at the iconic Meydan Racecourse.
The Dubai Racing Carnival consists of 14 meetings, excluding the date of the Dubai World Cup, each offering seven to nine races. Races take place on Fridays, with the exception of Super Saturday and Dubai World Cup Saturday.
