EA Announces Canceling Secret Titanfall Game
In 2016, Electronic Arts published what could be the last big budget shooter, Respawn Entertainment’s giant 2. Games, to quote a special NSFW Achewood. Interestingly, a whole new kind of fun emerges from something a lot of players already enjoy, such as if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 suddenly there’s a tango mod, or an NFL team released a Christmas album. After that, EA spent the next seven years doing everything it could to not make a sequel.
The latest humiliation comes over a Bloomberg report says EA canceled a secret single-player game in Titanfall/top legend universe is being developed at Respawn. This will be the second (that we know of) Titanfall sequel being canceled — free battle royale game top legend begins its life as a giant waterfall 2 follow-ups.
There may be boring business reasons for canceling. giant 2 was a huge critical success, but EA don’t take it as a financial blow — and unfortunately, almost any single-player game will struggle when compared to a free-to-play game like top legendincluding earned more than 2 billion dollars. This doesn’t make any sense in what we now call Normal Human Math: EA also continues to print money with its microtransaction-based FIFA Ultimate Team mode (so much so that the company does. now ignores that game’s revenue from its annual reports). However, the publisher has just completed the closure of several projects – including, yes, one Titanfall mobile game, Legend of Apex Mobile.
“No more Titanfall sequel” is pretty low on the list of reasons why uncontrolled growth of big-budget video game profits is a bad thing. But it’s not Not in the list.
