Eddie Hearn wants to fight a “giant” Deontay Wilder against one of his boxers
Via Sam Volz: Eddie Hearn says he’s willing to offer Deontay Wilder huge sums of money to fight one of the guys he works with. Hearn didn’t say who the boxer was, but he said it was one of these three: Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora.
Hearn says the money he will give Wilder is more than he “could dream of earning” at this stage in his career.
To be fair, if former WBC heavyweight champion Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) agrees to an offer from Hearn, that would mean he would fight in England, possibly in London. . As long as Wilder does this, he should be able to easily fight against Chisora or Whyte.
For now, Wilder will take on dangerous rival Robert Helenius on October 15 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“I think there are a few fights, win or lose, that are still very important to Anthony Joshua,” Eddie Hearn told. Intu Boxing. “Tyson Fury, DillianWhyte and Deontay Wilder. There were three of them there.
“I think we’re on the hunt for all the big fights. AJ wants to fight everyone. He’s already proven it. So one The fight between AJ-Deontay Wilder is a big one.
“As I said the other day, I have been in contact with Shelly Finkel recently. You should never deprive a boxer of a chance. I have some money on hand, and I’m not talking about the location to do a giant Deontay Wilder fight with one of the fighters I work with.
“It’s just frustrating because I want the boxer to know that the opportunity is there. Sometimes the managers and promoters won’t even let it reach the gladiator.
“If I go back to Deontay Wilder and say, ‘Let me tell you the number I have for you.’ If you say to me, ‘I don’t like you, so I won’t work with you.’ It’s fair, but it’s important that he knows.
“There’s no way he can say no to it in the situation. I’m just trying to get Deontay Wilder against one of the guys I work with.
“At the same time, it was money far beyond what he could dream of earning at this point in his career. So hopefully, we can have some positive conversations.
“Among the three [Joshua, Derek Chisora & Dillian Whyte], that’s one of those guys. We’ll see if we can have those conversations. Looks like he’ll fight Robert Helenius first. Hopefully he will win that fight.
“When you talk about money versus how much he made against Helenius. It’s very important. Hopefully, I don’t want to offend anyone. Let’s just see if we can get around a table,” said Eddie Hearn.
