Via Charles Brun: Eddie Hearn was furious earlier on Thursday in response to Tyson Fury’s change of mind about fighting Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed heavyweight bout.
Things have turned completely negative for 32-year-old Joshua and Hearn, as they now have to deal with Usyk, a boxer who can beat AJ once again.
It is clear that Fury has been scrutinizing what he has to contend with in his fight with Usyk, and he has chosen to go in the opposite direction in the direction of least resistance to Dillian Whyte.
Be honest. Usyk would have picked this fat Fury, and it wouldn’t be pretty. The 2015 version of Fury would be too smart for Usyk, but it’s not 270+ Tyson looks like a fat bear we have seen recently.
Fury has aged and gotten fatter over the past three years, and there’s no going back to the boxer he was 3000 days ago.
The amount Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) will lose will be huge if he is beaten by Usyk again which is why he should NEVER fight the Olympic gold medalist again. 2012 from the very beginning.
It’s a Joshua’s part is not well thought out. I’m sure Hearn advised Joshua not to make this move, but he could have insisted in the heat of the moment.
To be fair to AJ, the loss he suffered to Usyk last September probably clouded his judgment.
Had WBC heavyweight champion Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) fought Usyk, he could have solved Joshua’s problem for him. Joshua was supposed to fight Fury right after that for the big money.
Hearn had hoped that his boxer Anthony Joshua would be taken aside favorably to ensure that he could face the Fury vs. Usik.
Instead of Joshua stepping aside, he now faces having to face IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) in a rematch in May.
Fury wants a temporary fight
It was quite shocking that Fury asked for a temporary fight BEFORE fighting Usyk.
If you ever know how nervous Fury is about the prospect of fighting Ukraine’s talented Usyk, the fact that he asked for an interim bout shows how scared he is.
“There can be a logical path if everything is done the right way,” Eddie Hearn told TalkSport about a step-by-step deal for Joshua that fell through on Thursday due to Fury’s change of mind about fighting Oleksandr Usyk.
“It was a very difficult conversation with Anthony because, as you have seen from Tyson Fury, King of Contras, one minute AJ is a coward thinking to step aside, and then he is. was an idiot to refuse it. You cannot win.
“When you are talking about these numbers [$90 million that Fury claims Joshua lost out on this week]you’re talking about a chance to have a makeshift bout and fight the winner Usyk against Fury for four times what he got for fighting Usyk.
“So there’s a lot of meaning to the model if the model is the model we want. But all four fighters in this mix need to be on board, and the reality is, Tyson Fury does NOT want to fight Oleksandr Usyk next for the undisputed championship.
“He wanted an interim game, and that’s what slowed things down because we really couldn’t understand. You just defeated Deontay Wilder. This is the undisputed fight, and then he wants a temporary duel,” Hearn said.
Tyson changed his mind
It’s likely Fury scrutinized Usyk’s win over Joshua last September and realized he had no chance of beating him. So far Fury is as motionless and motionless as he is now at 33, he will be singled out by Usyk.
One blow from a thousand cuts is for Fury, and he may decide it’s safe for him to protect his skin by opting for the easier fight, Chisora-esque Dillian Whyte.

“You need to come up with a path and a plan that everyone is comfortable with, and ultimately, not everyone is comfortable with it.
“Dillian will have to secure the WBC title and fight for it in the summer,” Hearn said of Whyte will be determined to fight for the WBC belt in his next bout after stepping aside. He won’t step aside twice in a row.
“If everything goes as we want, can we do it? Entirely possible. But now we’re in a position where Fury looks like he doesn’t want to go that route to fight Usyk. He’d rather have a makeshift fight or a fight with Dillian Whyte, and we’re going to bid on a wallet,” Hearn said.
Tyson changed his mind
“First, that announcement will come from Anthony, and second, it will come when camp starts,” Hearn said of when Joshua will reveal who his new trainer is to replace Rob McCracken.
“I think we have two or three weeks until camp officially starts. My guess is that any changes to the environment, which are more likely to happen in the two scenarios, will be announced by him in due time.
“It’s surprising that people care so much about Anthony Joshua. Obviously we’ve done a great job of him over the years, and so has he. There are questions every day. ‘Who is the new coach? Who is he fighting with? Where is he? What is he doing? ‘ It’s been a really big year for him.
“You’re probably saying April for Fury against Whyte and May for AJ. The content of Usyk and AJ is actually quite simple. We have an agreement, we have a contract, we know the terms. It’s just a case of when and where.
“Alex Krassyuk and those guys, it’s really very simple. It would be ‘just to let you know, it’s April at Wembley or wherever.’ That’s not the day. Do not initiate a hotel reservation. It’s already on, but it’s very complicated in this whole process.
“It was quite arduous and discouraging. There really isn’t any solution to it,” said an apparently agitated Hearn.
It is possible that Fury’s management entertained the idea of a deal aside but concluded it was unpayable, so they chose not to go that route.
