Elite Power Defends His Title With Sprint Victory
In a day that’s already seen a pair of last year’s winners defend their titles, ELITE POWER (h, 5, Curlin–Broadway’s Alibi, by Vindication) made it three with a successful title defense in the GI Qatar Breeders’ Cup Sprint. Racing in mid pack around the turn, he was cut loose under Irad Ortiz, Jr. past the quarter pole and sailed home on the outside to pass a pair of tiring pacesetters inside the final sixteenth. Lifetime Record: 13-9-1-1.
