Remember something IkeaBot? Robots have gained popularity for their ability to make Ikea (or better) furniture than humans. The team behind the project founded Eureka Robotics, which today announced that it has raised a Series A pre-round of $4.25 million, led by The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners (UTEC) , one of Asia’s largest deep technology investment companieswith the participation of Vietnamese Touchstone Partners and returning investors ATEQ.
Eureka Robotics products are based on research from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and MIT. It focuses on robotics software and systems to automate tasks that require High Accuracy and Agility (HAHA). Its robots are used for precision handling, assembly, inspection, drilling and other tasks.
The Eureka Controller’s High Precision Calibration synchronizes the robot and camera reference frames with high precision, allowing sub-millimeter accuracy for vision-guided tasks, in while Force Control provides the robot with the ability to perform tight assembly and insertion, with clearances down to 50 microns. Meanwhile, its high responsiveness related to computer vision allows the robot to recognize and locate randomly placed objects. After the robot finds an object’s location, real-time motion planning helps it move toward that direction.
An example of how the Eureka Controller can be used is Archimedes, which deploys technologies developed for Ikea Robots to a store floor for the first time. It is capable of handling lenses and mirrors of various sizes and loading such delicate objects onto a tray for coating. Eureka co-founder Dr Pham Quang Cuong told TechCrunch that Archimedes currently operates a factory in Singapore that serves an American laser lens manufacturer, and the company has received numerous orders for robots. .
The funds will be used to accelerate development of the Eureka Controller, the company’s flagship product, allowing factories to deploy HAHA tasks in systems-integrated Factories and factories. Eureka co-founder Dr Pham said “while the core technologies have matured and have already been implemented in production, we wanted to make those technologies really easy to use by Integrators system. Making advanced technologies easy to use by engineers who are not programmers is really hard. A portion of the funds will be used to develop the Eureka Robotics product and software engineering team to work on the Eureka Controller.
Eureka Robotics also plans to expand commercialization in Singapore and China, and new markets such as Japan and Vietnam, with the help of UTEC and Touchstone. It currently has offices in Singapore and France and distribution partners in China, Japan and the US
