Europe should not blame Russia for “everything”: Kremlin
Moscow:
The Kremlin on Thursday said Europe should not blame Russia for “every problem”, as tensions with the West simmer over Ukraine and the migrant crisis on the Belarus-Poland border.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “Russia cares about everyone in Europe.
He added that Europe should “address the main sources of problems currently stifling Europe”.
His comments come after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Wednesday warned Russia against any “military adventurism” on the border of Ukraine and EU member Poland.
“Recently there are a lot of provocative publications in the UK,” said Peskov.
He added: “Russia is not waging any mixed wars.
NATO and Western governments have condemned the buildup of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine, which has been at war with pro-Russian separatists in the east of the country since 2014.
Kiev, which has in recent weeks downsized Russia’s presence on its borders, said on Thursday it was seeking more military aid from the West.
“Russian aggression has increased dramatically in recent weeks,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told a news conference.
He added that Kiev is in talks with the West on “supplying more defensive weapons to our army”.
Later on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to address a foreign ministry meeting with “detailed” remarks, Peskov said.
