Even after leaving Parliament, there was never a thought of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Yashwantrao Chavan

NCP President Sharad Pawar on Wednesday said he never abandoned the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Yashwantrao Chavan even after breaking up with Parliament to form his own party.
Speaking at an event in Pune, he said he did not regret waiting until 1999 to form the KMT.
“My family follows some other ideology, which is Leftist ideology. I came to Pune in 1958 and young people like me are motivated by the ideologies of Gandhi, Nehru and Chavan. We were get to the bottom of that thought and apply it. and work further,” he said.
“Congress is the mainstay of that ideology and that’s why I never thought of giving it up. Never thought of doing something different. I had to make this decision ( founded the NCP) because Congress removed me from the six-year party,” he said.
He said he had paid the price for making some comments during the executive meeting of Congress that were not “digested”.
He emphasized: “Even when we left Congress and established the NCP, we never abandoned the thinking of Gandhi, Nehru and Chavan.
When asked if there is a common perception that Mr. Pawar’s help is needed to bring the congress into the mainstream, he said the need today is for all like-minded sectors to come together for The general situation of the country is a bit “anxious”.
He added that the farm bills were brought to Congress and passed without any discussion.
Mr. Pawar was speaking at a book launch and an event organized by Marathi daily Loksatta.
