I’m latelast month the developers of the venerable MMO Eternal Mission II introduce a new kind of loot box for the game which is, essentially, a pay-to-win situation. It doesn’t go down well with long time community!
EQUAL MMOBomb explainloot boxes, called Lirant Evernight Heritage Crate, “bypasses the lockouts and gives a chance to buy more opportunities with raid gear through the cash shop.” Fans were quick to call them “pay-to-raid” items and went to the game’s forum – which looked as old as the game itself – to complain.
Their pleas are loud and many enough for the Daybreak developers to roll back the decision almost immediately, posted last weekend:
After listening to your feedback and a lot of discussion, we’ve decided to withdraw the Lirant Evernight Legacy Chest from the in-game Marketplace store. The crate and most of its current content will no longer be for sale.
We have listened to you and understand that there are specific elements of the Lebanese Heritage Box that go against our shared values. We will no longer be offering any of these items.

Due to the uproar, Daybreak decided that “in the spirit of community feedback”, they will now open a dedicated forum where players can weigh in on things like balance changes before they go live, not after:
I would also like to announce that in the spirit of community feedback we will be opening a new Level Balance Forum for Everquest 2, stay tuned for these to arrive in the very near future. We want you, the community, who play these classes to help us decide which balance changes and bug fixes to prioritize with major updates. These forums will improve our ability to communicate with you and allow you to help us determine what changes will occur. These forums will have a section for each class and you will be able to suggest changes, communicate with us, and vote on the fixes and balance changes you feel are necessary for your class. me. The goal here is to talk to you about the time and effort these proposed changes will require and to openly discuss feasibility. We’ll make changes open to discussion as long as they stay within reason.
