Chesham S. listed on Saturday at Royal Ascot is all about fillings like trained Gavin Cromwell Snellen (Ire) (Expert Eyes {GB}–Illuminated {Ire}, by the Sea of the Moon {Ger}) found the line directly ahead pearls and rubies (No Now Never). Having made his mark at Limerick 10 days earlier, after testing the fence before that, Lindsay Laroche’s hybrid was soon interested in the indie team but had plenty of reserves as he was fouled twice by Gary Carroll. Green and late blunder as the 7-4 favorites Pearls And Rubies drove to a much wider line in the center of the track, a 12-1 hit leading Ballydoyle. Golden Mind (Ire) (Galileo Gold {GB}) came in third with the best of the ponies half way away.
Close! It’s a second #RoyalAscot winner for @gavincromwell1 when Snellen landed Chesham under the command of Gary Carroll… @Ascot pic.twitter.com/LXPcfn0BoV
