Social media giant Meta said that more than 16.2 million pieces of content were “processed” on Facebook with 13 categories of active violations in India in November. In its latest report, Meta said that Facebook received 519 user reports through its complaints mechanism in India between November 1 and November 30.
“Among these incoming reports, we provided tools for users to resolve their issues in 461 cases,” the report said.
These include pre-set channels for reporting content about specific breaches, self-remediation processes where they can download their data, ways to deal with hacked accounts, etc. , it added. Between November 1 and November 30, Instagram received 424 reports through India’s complaints mechanism.

Actions can include removing a piece of content from Facebook or Instagram, or masking a photo or video that may upset some audiences, with a warning.
Proactive rate, which shows the percentage of all content or accounts that Facebook finds and flags using technology before users report them, in most cases hovers around 60, 5-99.9 percent.
The rate of proactively removing content related to bullying and harassment was 40.7% because it is contextual and highly personal. In many cases, people need to report this behavior to Facebook before Facebook can identify or remove the content. For Instagram, more than 3.2 million pieces of content were taken across 12 categories in November 2021.
