Fantastic Beasts 3: The Secrets of Dumbledore third movie trailer released – as Mads Mikkelsen replaces Johnny Depp | News about Ant-Man & Art
The trailer for the third installment in the Fantastic Beasts franchise has been released, with Mads Mikkelsen making his debut as the evil wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
Danish actor who replaced Johnny Depp, who left Harry Potter prequel series after losing the high title libel against The Sun newspaper.
In the dramatic three-minute trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, set several years after the events of Magical Creatures: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander, and Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore prepare to face Grindelwald’s figure in battle.
“If you listen carefully enough, the past whispers to you,” Law said before introducing the main characters, who he describes as “a magician, his indispensable assistant, a witches come from a very old family, a teacher and a witch.”
Mikkelsen’s character then announces that “our war with muggles begins today”.
The trailer for the latest film shows the return of some of Harry Potter’s iconic settings, with the cast having visited Hogwarts and the Room of Requirement.
The film is set to premiere on April 15, 2022 and will see the return of David Yates, director of the last four Harry Potter films and the first two Fantastic Beasts films.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore was originally scheduled to begin filming in March 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic added to the problems and caused Warner Bros. to postpone it to September.
Mikkelsen, whose credits include Bond villain Le Chiffre and Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the TV series Hannibal, has announced as Depp’s replacement.
The cast also includes Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Jessica Williams.
