Ferrari plans 15 new cars by 2026, including an EV

Ferrari will soon embark on a frenzied launch, which they have planned overnight for 15 new cars between 2023 and 2026.

There is some symmetry to this week’s plans, given that Ferrari has managed 15 new car launches between 2018 and 2022 – highlights include 296 GTB, SF90, 812 Competizione and F8 Tributo.

Ferrari announced its latest mid-term product plan at the 2022 capital market day event.

One of the 15 upcoming models will be an all-electric vehicle – the company’s first BEV. Ferrari has previously committed launch electric vehicle (EV) by 2025and that time remains the same.

Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna – who has been in the chair for 12 months – doesn’t go into too many details about the upcoming EV this week, but claims it will be “unique” and will be developed through a “Ferrari lens” .

Another highlight that is promised will be a high-performance V8 hybrid halo model following on from the V12 LaFerrari.

While Ferrari didn’t exactly confirm that, in one of the slides in the presentation it hinted that this upcoming “supercar” will be powered by a turbocharged V8 with some kind of hybrid system. .

The slide also says that it will feature technology from formula 1 and the upcoming Le Mans super car, which will make its Le Mans 24 hour race debut in 2023.

Also at this event, Ferrari confirmed that it will launch its first SUV called Purosanguein September 2022.

As detailed earlier, Purosangue will be available with V12 . engine. CarExpert understands that the Purosangue will also be available with other electrified powertrain options.

Earlier in 2022 Ferrari said they would managing the “exclusiveness” of Purosanguewith confirmation at the event that it will maintain less than 20% of its annual vehicle shipments over its lifetime.

We already know this SUV will accommodate up to 4 passengers and is based on a new mid-engined architecture up front.

By 2026, Ferrari aims to have a vehicle line-up consisting of 60% hybrid and all-electric vehicles, with the remaining 40% being models with internal combustion engines.

By 2030, Prancing Horse will increase this number to 40% hybrid vehicles, 40% all-electric vehicles and 20% internal combustion vehicles.

Building on this push for electrification, Ferrari has confirmed that it is building a new “electronics building” at the Maranello plant for electric vehicles. This is previous rumors but not confirmed.

This additional space will design and assemble electric drive systems, inverters and batteries. A new paint shop is coming soon.

As previously announced, Mr. Vigna, former CEO of STMicroelectronics has Appointed Ferrari CEO in June 2021 to accelerate the use of advanced technologies.

Before that in 2022, Ferrari also details of an organizational reorganization that looks to an electrified future and focuses on a commitment to be carbon neutral by 2023.

Prancing Horse has expanded its leadership team by fostering internal talent and bolstered this with some external recruiting from tech backgrounds.

Ferrari’s local division recently said the move to electrification has been “well received” by customers at home and abroad.
