Final Fantasy 16 Producer Denies Existence of PC Version: ‘Buy PS5’
Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida has denied that Square Enix’s upcoming game will come to PC, telling interested fans to buy a PlayStation 5.
A video clip published on Japanese website Nico Video was shared on Twitter by industry insider Genki (below), who translated Yoshida’s comments (verified by IGN) about the PC version of Final Fantasy 16.
“Nobody said a word about releasing the PC version,” said Yoshida. “Why does it look like the PC version will come out in six months? Don’t worry about it, buy the PS5. Sorry, I went overboard. We did our best, so please look forward to it. .”

However, the claim that “no one said a word about the PC version” is untrue, as Square Enix itself did. Initial reveal trailer for the game blatantly claims that it is “available on PC as well”and while Square Enix mysteriously dropped this request shortly afterPS5 exclusivity was questioned again in November 2022.
An ad for PS5’s DualSense controller says Final Fantasy 16 will just be a “PS5 exclusive for six months”, implies that it will arrive on another platform (whether Xbox, Nintendo Switch or PC) in December 2023 – six months after debut on June 22.
However, the exact nature of its exclusivity remains unclear, and based on Yoshida’s comment, this has even happened to its developer. IGN has reached out to Square Enix for comment.
