Fine dining tasting menu for dogs
If you are the type of dog owner who spares no money when it comes to pamper your furry friendthen a new restaurant in San Francisco can provide you with the perfect fine dining experience.
Restaurant, called Dogue, which opened in San Francisco’s Mission District last month. It offers a wide range of delicious dishes and a special menu of French cuisine designed specifically for your canine friends. That means “dogguccinos” and cake “inspired by the best pastry chefs in the world.”
Dogguccinos and pastries starting at $4.95, According to The Los Angeles Times. Dogue also has a $75 tasting menu every Sunday that includes three seasonally rotating dishes – like organic beef steak served with fermented carrots and turnips, says owner and chef Rahmi Massarweh told the Times.
Other menu items include chicken and mushroom chaga soup, chicken skin waffles, and grass-fed steak tartare.
According to the restaurant’s website, the in-house “pawtisserie” serves nutritious and colorful snacks made with “really locally sourced ingredients”. That means a pie made with ingredients like chicken, liver, wild sardines, and organic veggies.
Some studies have shown that human-grade ingredients are actually more digestible for your pet than mass-produced dog food, which could be good news for your dog’s stomach.
Some dishes of Dogue Contains both fresh and raw ingredientsincluding raw meats. Raw diet advocates Giving dogs touts many health benefits for your pets, but American Veterinary Medical Association Officially discourages the practice, as cooking or pasteurization can eliminate dangerous pathogens.
Massarweh told the Times he consulted with his veterinarian to make sure all Dogue meals were safe for dogs and contributed to a balanced diet. Dogue and Massarweh did not immediately respond to CNBC Make It’s request for comment.
Dog-friendly restaurants and hotels are nothing new, with plenty of special treats for your canine companion. Starting a business like Ollie, Honest kitchen and Nom Nom have also popped up in recent years to provide fresh, prepared meals for your dogs using human-grade ingredients.
But while Dogue isn’t the only establishment in the world serving fresh food that’s right for your dog, Massarweh is confident that its restaurant is one of a kind.
“What we do is often non-existent,” Massarweh told the Times. “My approach is as if it were a human restaurant. It’s as if you’ve entered my restaurant, and the star guest is your dog.”
