Speaking about the entire episode, former Australian Brad Hogg hopes that the Indian dressing room is “not separated” by this leadership change.
“I think it’s a blessing in disguise. I just hope when they go on the next tour, that dressing room isn’t separated by that small split between these two particular players.” Hogg said in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel.
The former Australian cricketer emphasized that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should embrace their respective roles, which will help Indian cricket move forward.
“Both of them have to grab it, get into that dressing room and take Indian cricket forward,” Hogg said.
The 50-year-old says that the type of talent that India has available, they have the potential to dominate Test cricket in the coming years.
“Current Indian cricket, with the talent they have in batting and bowling, will dominate world cricket at least for the next 5 years.
Hogg added that the step “was a luck in disguise” for Kohli, adding that the India Test captain could now focus more on hitting his ball in the longest form of the game.

“I think this is a good move. Kohli should just embrace it and relax about the whole situation and should focus on leading the Test team. So you’ve basically got Rohit Sharma just practicing. focus on the team he wants in white ball cricket and Virat Kohli focus on Test cricket.You will be under a lot of pressure.
“I think this is going to be better for Virat Kohli. It will improve his performance which has softened slightly over the past few years when he has been under pressure to captain all three teams,” he concluded.
