Fox News cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski killed in Ukraine
A Fox News camera operator and a local consultant who was covering the war in Ukraine were killed after the vehicle they were traveling in was attacked by fire, the network announced Tuesday.
The passing of camera operator Pierre Zakrzewski was shared by Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott with BuzzFeed News in a memo sent to employees. Scott said Zakrzewski, 55, died after a fire in Horenka, a village northwest of Kyiv, on Monday.
Scott later confirmed that Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra “Sasha” Kuvshynova was also killed in the same incident. The 24-year-old used to work for Fox as a consultant, supporting the network’s team.
Fox News reporter Benjamin Hall was also injured in the attack and was hospitalized in Ukraine.
“Pierre Zakrzewski is an absolute legend of this network and his loss is terrible,” host Bill Hemmer told a Fox News audience on Tuesday morning.
London-based Zakrzewski, who is Irish, has been in Ukraine since February, having previously fought in multiple wars for Fox, including conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. In December, Fox News presented him with a “Silent Hero” award in recognition of his work.

Kuvshynova, the consultant, worked with Fox for weeks in her hometown. In a memo later sent to employees, Scott said the network had stopped announcing her death out of respect for her family.
“Some of our reporters and producers spent long days reporting the news and learning about her,” Scott wrote.
