Frank Gore Vs. Joshua Romero Saturday, December 3 On FITE TV/Triller PPV
Via Reggie Luna: The Greatest NFL Championship Series Of All Time Frank Gore (1-0, 1 KO) will once again enter the pro boxing ring this Saturday, December 3, at the historic Freeman Arena in San Antonio, Texas.
The future 39-year-old Hall of Famer will feature in the main event of an 11-round stacked match against heavyweight Joshua Romero (0-2) from South Texas.
This highly anticipated event will be presented by TMB Promotions and distributed by FIT TV/Video Games; available for purchase via the attached link for a one-time cost of $24.99: https://www.fite.tv/watch/tmb-promotions-knockout/2pccg/
The heavyweight main event is scheduled for 4 rounds and will be Gore’s second fight in less than 7 months.
The five-time pro-Bowler doesn’t know how far he’ll go in his beginner boxing career but admits he’s enjoyed the journey so far.
“I do it because I love it. I know I don’t need to do that. But I feel like I’m still in good shape and I love to compete,” said the NFL’s third-ranked all-time top driver. “I love challenges. Boxing is serious and extremely difficult. I take my hat off to any dedicated boxer who does this job for a living.”
Although the gridiron legend will be competing in Heavyweight this weekend, the 5’9″ tall boxer believes his future may lie in Cruiserweight.
“I realize how big the age of this weight class is and I think after this fight I will aim to compete in the under 200 pound. Of course, I’ll talk to Coach Marty after this game. But I think I can fight under 200 pounds.
Gore hit back at longtime coach Marty Monroe after a disappointing performance against NBA All-Star Deron Williams in an exhibition game in December 2021 in which the former Miami Hurricanes standout player took decision to split.
“I just wasn’t prepared. I was training with coach Javiel Centeno at the time, and he was a good coach. But he was getting Xander Zayas and George Kambosos ready for their respective battles at the time and wasn’t really prioritizing me. I understand why, and still have great respect for him. But I know I need someone who can spend more time with me to prepare for future battles.”
“Coach Marty taught me the difference between just working out in the gym and actually preparing for a prize match. It is like day and night.”
In his first professional bout, which took place in Biloxi, Mississippi on May 14 of this year, the 39-year-old KO’d Olaseyinde Olorunsola roughly and impressively in the final seconds of the second round. quarter, causing him to face directly the tarpaulin with a short, neat right hook.
The humble 16-year-old NFL pro admits he feels a lot better after a full camp, three-times-a-week practice.
“I feel much more comfortable and sharper. Coach Marty is pleased with the progress and I feel I have made even better this camp. I fought undefeated young heavyweight Lorenzo Medina, who will also be in the December 3 match in San Antonio. He’s been pushing me in the gym and I feel that everyone should be able to see an improvement on Saturday.”
Frank Gore invites all boxing fans to see how he’s progressed this Saturday night, when he takes on Romero in San Antonio, Texas.
“If they just see my show with Deron Williams, they’ll be pleasantly surprised at my improved skills and can see how hard I’ve worked all year.”
