French and Spanish companies are collaborating on the development of a new low-cost, highly maneuverable artillery system on the Sherpa chassis.
France’s alliance of Arquus and Thales with Spain-based NTGS has developed the new Sherpa A2M (Advanced Mobile Mortar).
The Sherpa A2M is the satisfactory answer to the tactical challenges that artillery faces and creates in intense warfare: mobility, protection, tight ground support and options portable rocket launcher for a fraction of the price of a self-propelled howitzer (SPG).

The Alliance allows for a truly complete solution, providing a unique indirect fire support solution, suitable for infantry support, combined armed forces and Special Forces, as well as as automatic artillery units seek a high degree of mobility and protection.
The Sherpa A2M combines the superb mobility of the Sherpa Light, the NTGS-proven Deployment Mortar System and the 120mm Mortar barrel from Thales, into a completely new, fully integrated solution.
Thanks to Thales’ capabilities, this vehicle can be loaded with 120 mm rifle rounds and in the future laser-guided mortar shells. Grooved mortars are three times more accurate than smooth mortars.
Due to this superior efficiency and accuracy, it is possible to achieve the same active effects with much less firing; about 4 times fewer rounds than a fine grout.
NTGS offers its skills in global systems with a fire control system in the rear of the vehicle. The Sherpa Light is a 4×4 multi-purpose armored vehicle, designed by Arquus to offer multiple versions and customizations for every need and mission, built on a single, proven basis. for ease of use and ease of maintenance. The Sherpa A2M can carry 40 120mm mortar rounds in the rear and can replenish ammunition in the cabin, depending on the user’s requirements. It has a range of up to 8.2 km with standard rifle ammunition and up to 13 km with missile-assisted ammunition, allowing it to increase protection for soldiers engaged by joining units without getting hit by bullets (Shoot & shoot).
