Future group on proposed negotiations between the war
Amazon has proposed a dialogue with Future Retail to end the legal battles, while the Supreme Court gives both sides until March 15 to find a settlement through negotiations.
To put an end to the contractual dispute that has fractured the relationship between the two, Amazon has proposed negotiations with Future Retail.
Amazon attorney Gopal Subramanium proposed during a hearing before the Supreme Court of India, where he argued that the “spiral” of litigation had dragged on for too long.
“All I’m saying is let’s at least have a conversation. We cannot allow the wheel to spin like this,” Subramanium told the court.
In response, a Future Group adviser agreed to hold talks with Amazon. The judges said it could take ten days for the two sides to reach a workable settlement.
Amazon has successfully blocked Future’s sale of $3.4 billion worth of assets to Indian rival Reliance since 2020 citing breach of specific contracts. Future denies any wrongdoing, but the US company’s position has so far been supported by the Singapore arbitration and Indian courts.
