Petrol and diesel prices today: Petrol and diesel prices remained stable for 30 consecutive days across metro cities on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Last month, the Delhi government reduced the value added tax on petrol from 30% down to 19.40%. With this, the price of petrol in the national capital has fallen by Rs 8.56 per liter.
A liter of petrol currently costs Rs 95.41 in Delhi, while the price of diesel is at Rs 86.67 per liter. In Mumbai, petrol retails for Rs 109.98/litre, while diesel is sold for Rs 94.14/litre. Here are gas and diesel prices in major cities:
State-run refiners such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum will adjust fuel prices on a daily basis, taking into account international crude oil prices and the US dollar exchange rate. Any changes in petrol and diesel prices will be made from 6:00 a.m. daily.
Globally, oil prices fell on Friday but are set to post their biggest annual gain since at least 2016, boosted by the global economic recovery from the pandemic slump. COVID-19 and manufacturer restraint, even as infections hit record highs worldwide.
Brent crude oil futures fell $1.75, or 2.2%, at $77.78 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil futures fell $1.78, or 2.31%, to $75.21 a barrel.
